December 12, 2024: Lynwood Unified Community Invited to Celebrate Lynwood High School Imperial Campus Groundbreaking

The Lynwood Unified community is invited to celebrate the groundbreaking of the highly-anticipated Lynwood High School Imperial Campus Classroom Building at 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, marking the start of an exciting chapter for our students and community.

The ceremony – which will be held at the construction site at 4050 Imperial Hwy – will feature performances from the Cesar Chavez Middle School Advanced Band and Hosler Middle School Cheer and remarks from Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite, Board of Education President Maria G. Lopez, future students and special dignitaries.

Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear, as the groundbreaking will take place on the construction site.

The groundbreaking celebrates the beginning of construction of a 175,000-square-foot classroom building, which will offer specialized spaces, including a culinary arts kitchen, advanced medical training labs, dedicated art rooms and a new kiln, as well as upgraded athletic fields. The project is made possible thanks to $250 million in funding from the state, secured by Lynwood Unified Board of Education following the discovery of structural issues that led to the school’s closure in summer 2020.

The campus is scheduled to reopen in fall 2027. For more information and ongoing updates on the project, please visit http://bit.ly/LHSUpdates  and follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
