Enrichment Opportunities

We believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. Our enrichment programs are designed to inspire creativity, support academic growth, and foster social-emotional development for all students. Through dynamic partnerships, we offer a wide range of opportunities that nurture the whole child—during and after the school day.

Enrichment & Leadership Opportunities

We believe in educating the whole child and offer a variety of programs to help students discover their passions:

  • Track and Field

  • Visual and Performing Arts

  • STEAM Activities and Tutoring

  • Free before- and after-school programs

  • Student leadership opportunities

  • Spirit Weeks and arts programs

  • Holiday performances, parades, and other school traditions

LevelUp Lynwood

LevelUp Lynwood is Lynwood Unified’s free before- and after-school program for TK–8 students, providing a safe, enriching space where students can explore STEAM, sports, and creative activities through hands-on learning. With support from dedicated LUSD staff and partners like Think Together, Galileo X, and Code Campus, students participate in experiences like cheer, flag football, engineering with Legos, and even field trips to places like the Santa Ana Zoo and Knott’s Berry Farm — all at no cost to families.

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

GATE is designed to challenge and inspire our high-achieving students through enriching academic experiences that spark creativity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. Our robust GATE program supports gifted learners with curriculum enhancements, academic competitions, and hands-on activities tailored to their strengths. Along the way, students build leadership, teamwork, and communication skills — empowering them to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Conga Kids

Conga Kids introduces students to the world of partner dance, building skills that go far beyond the dance floor. Through this joyful and high-energy program, students develop confidence, teamwork, respect, and leadership, along with essential communication skills. Conga Kids empowers students to express themselves and connect with others in meaningful and respectful ways.

Turnaround Arts: Creativity Meets Learning

Washington Elementary is proud to be a Turnaround Arts: California school, a distinction that infuses the arts into our core academic program. Through this national partnership, we are committed to using the arts as a powerful tool for:

  • Boosting student engagement

  • Improving school culture

  • Strengthening equity and inclusion

  • Inspiring creativity and joy in learning

Students participate in weekly visual arts, theater, and music lessons, which support not only artistic development but also critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
