Washington Elementary School is a vibrant and historic learning community where students are supported, challenged, and celebrated every step of the way.  Washington has built a legacy of academic achievement, community involvement, and a strong commitment to student growth. We offer a standards-based curriculum aligned with Common Core standards and designed to challenge and inspire our TK–6 learners.

Continuous School Improvement

At Washington, student achievement is driven by high expectations and strong collaboration among educators. Our teachers work in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to set goals, analyze data, and refine instruction. Grade-level teams meet regularly to:

  • Reflect on student performance using district common assessments

  • Identify barriers to success and adjust instruction

  • Design strategic interventions and enrichment opportunities

  • Share best practices and research-based strategies

This focused, data-driven approach ensures that every student receives the support they need to grow academically and meet or exceed grade-level standards.

Washington is more than a school—it's a community. Many of our staff members have served here for over 20 years, and some are proud Lynwood alumni who have returned to serve the next generation of learners.

Student Wellness & Support

Washington, a Gold award-winning PBIS school, is proud to offer wraparound support programs that nurture social-emotional development and ensure all students are ready to learn:

  • PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) – Reinforcing respectful, responsible, and kind behavior schoolwide

  • Mental Health Collaborative – On-site support that promotes emotional well-being for students and families

Family & Community Engagement

Throughout the year, families are invited to participate in Back to School Nights, Open Houses, parent conferences, workshops, and cultural events, all designed to strengthen the connection between home and school. Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), School Advisory Council, and Title I meetings provide opportunities for collaborative decision-making and meaningful involvement.

We also offer:

  • Volunteering and chaperoning opportunities
