School History

washWashington Elementary School is named in honor of George Washington (1732–1799), the first President of the United States and a pivotal leader in the nation’s founding. His dedication to service, leadership, and unity continues to inspire our students.

Born in Virginia, Washington developed a strong sense of duty and perseverance from a young age. He gained military experience during the French and Indian War and later led the Continental Army to victory in the American Revolution. His strategic leadership helped secure American independence, culminating in the British surrender at Yorktown in 1781.

Following the war, Washington played a crucial role in shaping the new nation. As President of the Constitutional Convention, he helped establish the framework of the U.S. government. In 1789, he became the first President, setting many important precedents that guide the nation to this day. Despite political divisions, he emphasized unity and neutrality, warning against excessive partisanship in his Farewell Address.

Washington Elementary School embraces the values George Washington exemplified—integrity, perseverance, and civic responsibility. His belief in education and national unity reflects our commitment to fostering curiosity, leadership, and respect among our students.

His words, "Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages," remind us that determination and resilience can lead to great achievements. At Washington Elementary, we empower students to uphold these values and contribute positively to their communities.
